Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing Fellowships

Six writers will be invited to spend the academic year (August 15-May 15) in Madison as Artists in Residence at the University of Wisconsin. Fellows will teach one creative writing workshop per semester and will give one public reading from work in progress. Fellows may also participate in the creative writing program, assisting with the Brittingham/Pollak Prizes in Poetry (cosponsored by the English Department and the University of Wisconsin Press), the George B. Hill and Therese Muller Creative Writing Contest, and The Madison Review.

Fellowships will pay $25,000 for the academic year.

Applications must be received in February. Fellows will be notified of their selection by May 1. Applications must include a $20 application fee payable to the Department of English, a resumé or vita, the names and phone numbers of two recommenders, a writing sample consisting of either ten pages of poetry (single-spaced, stapled) or one story or novel excerpt of up to thirty pages in length
